June's Comfort Quilts Sew Day

Mary brought several boxes of donated fabric that needed sorting.

Some members worked on sewing together kits.

Some worked to add binding onto quilted tops.

A couple worked on adding labels to those ready to be distributed.

A lot was accomplished this morning.  Comfort Quilts Sew Days will not be held in July or August and members are encouraged to sew at home on comfort quilt kits.  Mary will have kits available at the general meetings.

June's Quilt Mavens Meeting

This month's meeting was hosted by Vickie P. and we had 2 guests.  The one with 4 paws was recently found wondering along the highway.  Vickie demonstrated her new cutting system and cut 2 ½” strips.  It was VERY quick.

Rosina was adding binding to a comfort quilt.

Bonney showed off the most recent top she has pieced which will be a terrific gift.

The July Mavens meeting will be hosted by Jeanne H.  Check the newsletter for directions.

Annual Picnic Plus

Today was our regular meeting day; however, along with some regular meeting activities, we enjoyed our annual picnic with A LOT of great food overlooking the water at the Yacht Cove clubhouse.
Here is some of the show and tell of members.
Charlotte had the baby quilt finished.  We saw it last week in pieces at Day Bee.

I love the bright colors of Liz’s crayon quilt.  She said it was a kit she won several years ago.

Dee has been busy quilting comfort quilts for children and adults.

Bonney has been VERY busy quilting comfort quilts for guild but took some time to make a baby gift.  (Sorry the photo is blurry.  Maybe some day I will get a camera with a faster shutter. )

Rosina has been busy finishing NICU quilts.  She showed several.

Clara showed her purse made from $25 a yard fabric.  She said it was hand dyed with some gold in it.

Zohra shared 2 embellished art pieces.

Deb shared 3 art quilts.  This was one of Judy Lilly's flower patterns that Deb enlarged.

This month’s challenge from Lynne was to make a NO-Sew project.  We had some good ones.
Clara made a quick fabric tote bag by tying.

Charlotte fused a mini quilt.

 Dorothy made a heart coaster.

Bev tied red, white and blue strips of fabric to make a lovely wreath.

June Day Bee Meeting

We had a great Day Bee meeting this morning hosted by Lynne in her beautiful home.  Lynne is a wonderful cook so we had delicious snacks. Lari sent step 9 of our mystery quilt and surprisingly I am ready for it.  Bev brought a stack of quilting magazines to share that many enjoyed.  Many ladies were working on some type of project.   Here are some photos of things they were working on.
Charlotte is making a baby quilt.  This is a really large size for her because she usually works in miniature.

Sandra was adding hand stitches to crazy quilt blocks.

Deb was finishing the binding or her strips and curves quilt.

Joan showed the sample booklet of fabric swatches for which we are collecting samples to be sent to Zimbabwe.
