More From Holiday Party

Here are photos from Joan at our Holiday party.  We had a ton of food and it was wonderful to visit with friends. Joan and Deb organized and decorated.

After the eating and visiting,  we had a fat quarter exchange.  Those participating brought an ugly fat quarter a lovely fat quarter and wrapped them in a holiday fat quarter.  We played the stealing game with them.  Here are a few ladies in the game process.

December General Meeting -Holiday Party

Tuesday morning was the December general meeting and annual Holiday Party.  President, Lynne, led the meeting in the festive setting.

Following are some pictures from the Show and Tell.  Then members enjoyed an abundant spread of wonderful food.
Anita B has been enjoying her work with wool.

Dorothy A shared her large quilt that has taken her many years of work but it was worth it.

Judy has been making aprons for gifts.

Here is another quilt that Teresa C. made from some of her father's shirts.

Mary Z. made this quilt from the silk skirt fabric of her granddaughter's wedding dress. Each square has blue work done by machine embroidery.

Elizabeth K made this heart string quilt.

January Meeting and Workshop

January 15, 2013 -- Deb Karasik from the Raleigh/Durham area will be our special guest  and will present a trunk show featuring work from her two books, Quilt Mavens: Perfect Paper Piecing and Quilts With Attitude

On Wednesday, January 16th Deb will do a full day class on her quilt "Inner Light".

Check out Deb's website:  On her workshops page you will find our workshop quilt. Click on "find out more" and then the link at the bottom of that page to see the supply list, a line drawing of the quilt and detailed fabric requirements, especially if you want to use fabric gradations like the sample. Remember that you do not have to use the fabric gradations to make a fabulous quilt, you may make this quilt completely your own. Either way, these pages are extremely helpful in planning your quilt. Please print out the supply list for your own use.

We have made arrangements with Pieces and Patches Quilt Shop in Lexington to have the workshop in their big, new classroom. Lunch break will be at McAllisters or you may bring a sack lunch. The cost of the full day class is $45 plus $15 for the pattern that includes all the papers for the entire quilt. Non-members will be charged $55 for the workshop; pattern is extra.  If you have Deb's book "Quilts with Attitude" you may use the pattern on the CD that accompanies the book instead of buying the pattern.

There are still spaces available for the workshop.

December Meeting Holiday Brunch

Tuesday, December 11th beginning at 9:30 AM GCQ will have our annual Holiday Brunch.  Members are asked to bring a dish to share with the group.   For the gift exchange this year, you can shop in your own stash. All you have to do is pick a pretty fat quarter and an ugly fat quarter and wrap them together in a Holiday fat quarter. Then, after the ooooing and ahhhhing (and stealing) everyone gets to take home three new fat quarters.
Hope to see many members!
