At the meeting today we had Sharon Cooper-Murray, otherwise known as "The Gullah Lady," from Johns Island, SC. Sharon had us entranced with her story telling ability, which she did in the gullah dialect and then translated for us.
Sharon also told us of her passion for preserving the art of rag quilting, which is becoming a dying artform. She brought a sample which we could all put some pieces into.
Sharon has also taken the craft further by making her own wonderful art pieces, a sample of which is shown below.
