July's Show and Tell

Here are some of the beautiful quilts shown for show and tell at July's general meeting.

Looks like Rosina has been very busy with Comfort Quilts.

Dorothy has been working on some UFO's, showing a sampler quilt, a Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt and two lap quilts for her children,

Sandra has finished another art quilt.

Marlene (on the left) has appliquéd her apple core quilt.

Anita modeled her husband Verne's handiwork with discharge techniques.

Jeanne shared a table runner with us.

Sandy showed a sweet baby quilt.

Verity shared her Trip Around the World.

Vicki brought in the following two quilts.

I believe that Sue is hiding behind these two lovely quilts.

I wish I had gotten a close up of Elizabeth's quilt. She has quilted a lovely leaf pattern on it that she got from Leah Day. It took a lot of time she said but it was well worth the effort.

Paula shared a QOV quilt, a baby quilt, a jelly roll quilt and several pieces from her dying exploits.

And finally, Linda brought in this beautiful bed quilt with a piano key border.

What a bunch of talented ladies we have in our group!!

July General Meeting

July's meeting was demo day and several of our talented members shared their quilting knowledge.

Elizabeth (on the right) demonstrated wonky stars made out of scraps put together in a fun way.

Clara (on the left) showed us her Accuquilt cutter which can make quick work of cutting accurate shapes for piecing and appliqué.

Sandra (center) loves making art quilts and shared her methods using a foiling technique as Jeanne and Zora look on,

Deb and Janet check out Wilma's presentation of some of Billie Lauder's quick piecing methods. If you
want to see the nine patch demo again, you can find it here on Youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rBRrBJ_EqM, as well as some of her other clever tricks.

Bev, Dorothy and Anita look on as JoAnn (far right) shares her beading techniques as well as some of her wonderful art quilt pieces.

Marilyn demonstrates to Jane how she makes a quick 3d bow tie block.

June Quilt Mavens Bee

Those who attended the June Quilt Mavens Bee hosted by Jacqui, enjoyed her fabulous spread of food and her demo of the Accquilt cutting system.  Jacqui used the 2 ½”strip die on some holiday fabric as well as the circle die.  I brought from home a piece backed with fusible web and used a die to cut snowman accent pieces.  It was very easy to use.
For show and tell Sallie shared this baby quilt that will be a gift.

Bonney shared this Quilt of Valor that she quilted on her longarm machine.

Quilt Mavens meet the 4th Monday of each month at 7 PM in a member’s home.

June General Meeting

If it's June then it's picnic time for Greater Columbia Quilters. Once again we had our potluck at Yacht Cove (thanks to Shirley). We had a quick meeting with a show and tell and then feasted on a wonderful brunch overlooking scenic Lake Murray. Afterwards we shopped for fabric that members had brought to sell from their stashes. I did get some pictures of the show and tell but was just too busy eating and shopping to get anything more. (Deb, I had great fun shopping at your "store").

Judy had two quilts, one that was paper pieced and had a three dimensional book that opens. I believe that Lynne, our president, helped Judy with some of the paper pieced designs.

Mary brought in a children's quilt.

Elizabeth brought in a finished Quilts of Valor quilt top.

Bonney brought in two quilts.

Jolene finished her jelly roll quilt.

Anita has been busy lately on some comfort quilts.

And Sandra completed her art quilt which included shibori and cyanotype.

June Day Bee Cancelled

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the June day bee has to be cancelled.

May Show and Tell

Once again here I am catching up after being out of town for two and a half weeks. Seems like it takes me twice that long to get my life back to normal again. Anyway, here are some pictures from our show and tell at the May general meeting.

Clara was busy this month showing a bag, two wall quilts and the top she is wearing.

Our visitor Chanel brought in an almost finished quilt.

Anne brought in some Quilts of Valor kits and showed this sample.

Sue was also busy this month and had a lot to show..

Here's Linda with some smaller items to share.

Paula showed her jelly roll quilt as well as dye book samples.

I believe this is Jean with her jelly roll quilt.

And Missy is thinking small these days.
