October's Show and Tell

We'll start with two from Jean. The first is her beautiful version of our mystery quilt that was done in Day Bee. The second was a UFO, I believe.

The next two are from Dorothy. I had to get a close up of the sweet hand embroidery on this first one.

Annette showed her USC quilt from the State Fair.

Zohra showed a piece she is working on for her son.

JoAnn shared another art piece, complete with her signature beading.

Linda brought a Halloween table runner to share.

Martha brought in her first attempt at machine quilting. She should look happy -- it was wonderful!

Bonney had another beautiful batik quilt to share.

We had a visitor, Suzan, who brought in this wonderful string quilt. You do not have to bring in a quilt to visit us, but we do love it when you do!

Margaret did some shibori dyeing at the QSC Fall Retreat at White Oak and these are some of her results.

It amazes me that Sue always has one or two quilts to bring in every month it seems. This month was no exception with Sue sharing this sampler quilt.

Sandra shared her intended entry into the juried fine arts section of the State Fair. Unfortunately, she accidentally missed the maximum length by ten inches. We've all been there, haven't we ladies? As you can see from the close up, it was the show's loss.

Carol has been super busy lately. Here's her winter wallhanging with some sweet machine embroidery.

A pretty jelly roll race quilt.

And last but not least, Carol has been working on these Edyta Sitar blocks as wallhangings for her relatives. Each one is lovelier than the last. And she was lucky enough to have her granddaughter present to help her show her creations. I just LOVE these!

October General Meeting/Marie Bostwick

In October we had the good fortune to have Marie Bostwick, author of the Cobbled Court quilt series. She was a wonderful speaker, both humorous and heartwarming. She was kind enough to sign our books for us and stayed for lunch with some guild members. It was a good day.

October General Meeting/Saying Thanks to Lynne

Since the end of our year is coming to an end, it's time for Lynne to pass on her position as guild president. I know that we will miss her enthusiasm as well as her lively messages in the newsletter. As a parting gift Clara secretly made Lynne one of her famous quilted bags, which I know Lynne has been trying and failing to win at several of our silent auctions. Combined with a Disney fabric (yes, Lynne is a Disney addict) it was the perfect gift!

After that, Clara raffled off the grand prize for our year long UFO contest. A Baby Lock sewing machine was won by Vicki M. who was not present this month. I'm sure she was, however, very excited when she found out her good fortune.
