July General Meeting -- Paige Alexander

We got a special visit this month from contemporary quilter Paige Alexander from upstate SC. Paige started out as a traditional quilter but her interest in modern quilting has grown with the vast information available on the web. She has a blog that documents her journey and growth as a modern quilter, QuiltedBlooms.com. Here are some of my favorite quilts from her presentation.

Well Rounded Single Girl was made for the Sewtopia/Hoffman fabric challenge It's from the pattern Free-Wheeling Single Girl by Denyse Schmidt.

After Dinner Mints, which is Paige's original design using the Quick Curve Ruler.

Around the Block, from the pattern Turnstile by Debbie Grifka.

Sew Charmed is modified from Big Charming by Denyse Schmidt.

Clementine Daisy, from the tutorial by Debbie Grifka.

Outlined Plus, designed and made by Paige's friend, Cheryl Brickey. Next to it is the mini version made by Paige. Pattern is available at MeadowMistDesigns.blogspot.com
Witco's Daisies was made for the EZ Quilting Triangle Challenge for QuiltCon West 2016. The design is inspired by artwork of Donna Mibus where she recreated 1960's Tiki style art.

Barcelona was made for the MQG Michael Miller Glitz fabric challenge and was juried into QuiltCon West 2016. It was also inspired by the artwork of Donna Mibus. The curved frame of Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Chair inspired the quilt title.

Positively Transparent was juried and displayed atQuiltCon West 2016 in the Small Quilts category. It was also included in issue #5 of Simply Moderne (the new quilt magazine put out by France's QuiltMania) in an article about QuiltCon West.

The Greatest Gift was adapted from a pattern from Stephanie Serrano of Venus de Hilo.
