June Quilt Mavens Bee

      Those who attended the June Quilt Mavens Bee hosted by Jacqui, enjoyed her fabulous spread of food and her demo of the Accquilt cutting system.  Jacqui used the 2 ½”strip die on some holiday fabric as well as the circle die.  I brought from home a piece backed with fusible web and used a die to cut snowman accent pieces.  It was very easy to use.

For show and tell Sallie shared this baby quilt that will be a gift.

Bonney shared this Quilt of Valor that she quilted on her longarm machine.

Quilt Mavens meet the 4^th Monday of each month at 7 PM in a member’s home.

October Quilt Mavens

      Quilt Mavens meets the 4th Monday and for October met at Janet's home.  Here is some show and tell.  Jan was sewing the binding on a baby quilt.

Vickie was working on her English paper pieced hexagons.  She joked that this quilt would be her one month old granddaughter's wedding quilt.

 Jean was working on her smaller hexagons.  

Because of holidays in November and December, Quilt Mavens will not meet again until January.

Quilt Mavens Meeting

    Tonight Quilt Mavens meeting was at my home.  We had a fun small group.   I planned a game so we split into 2 teams for Quilt Pictionary.  A member was to try and draw something to get their team members to name the quilt block, but they could not draw the block or the name of it.  There were a couple we had not heard of.  Here is the winning team.

No much show and tell.  Jackie had made a purse

 and was working on another knitted ruffled scarf.

I had my old treadle sewing machine set up for people to try.  Several said they had learned on a treadle machine.  Here Joan is refreshing her memory sewing on it.

January Quilt Mavens Bee

    We had a fun time at Janet's for Quilt Mavens last night.  Here is some show and tell from the meeting.
Joan shared a couple of tops that will be given away when finished.

 Mary has been making more things for an expected great-grand baby.  Here is the diaper bag and bunny changing pad.

 Sallie was finishing the binding on this gift for a Gamecock fan.

Someone donated this quilt which be given to the VA.

Here is my scrappy squares quilt.

We would love for more to join us.  Next month will meet at my home.

October Quilt Mavens Meeting

   Quilt Mavens met Monday night at Janet's.  We enjoyed a tour of her beautiful new home and the special quilts she had displayed around the house.  In the breakfast area she had this unusual old quilt mounted on the wall.

She said it was a $20 find on the back of a pick up truck. 

Our group had a surprise for her as an engagement present and housewarming gift. Members had pieced blocks from a variety of batiks.  Bonney assembled and quilted.

Jean was nearing completion of one of her hexagon quilts. 

Quilt Mavens will not meet in November or December.

June's Quilt Mavens Meeting

   This month's meeting was hosted by Vickie P. and we had 2 guests.  The one with 4 paws was recently found wondering along the highway.  Vickie demonstrated her new cutting system and cut 2 ½” strips.  It was VERY quick. 

Rosina was adding binding to a comfort quilt. 

Bonney showed off the most recent top she has pieced which will be a terrific gift.

April Quilt Mavens Meeting

      Monday evening was the April gathering of Quilt Mavens.  I was hosting and planned for us to play a few rounds of Quilt Wheel of Fortune (except we had no wheel).  The game I found online suggested trying to name the quilt block by filling in the missing letters.  Some were very easy for the ladies to name.  An example is :   _ e _ r   _ _ w

Marty and her daughter each were sewing binding on to finish projects.

Vickie shared her chicken quilt

and a couple of Lonestar quilt tops she bought online that she plans to finish and quilt.

We have a great time and others are welcome so if you have never been, think about visiting.

March Meeting of Quilt Mavens

     Quilt Mavens met at Carol’s home this month.  She was a wonderful hostess as always. For our meeting we did not have any business tonight.  Some ladies brought handwork. Jan showed the pattern and fabric for a large paper-pieced wall-hanging she is about ready to start.  Carol showed a block from her Day Bee Mystery quilt and asked the group for some input.   Bonney was doing counted cross-stitch, Marty and Jean were sewing on binding.  Here is Jean’s quilt.

Mary showed a Christmas tree shirt that she made today and her latest duffle bag for her granddaughter. 

Beverly modeled her knitted shawl.  It was very beautiful and an interesting design.  Beverly is a very talented knitter.

Quilt Mavens is a fun group for fellowship and sharing of ideas (some quilting).  New members are welcome so you may want to consider attending a meeting.  We will meet at Elizabeth’s home in April.

  Quilt Mavens are wonderful people.  We have gathered through the fog at Elizabeth's home.  12 in attendance. Mary showed her christening gown for granddaughter Zoey.  Elizabeth showed her Lego blocks.  Sallie showed her quilting related Christmas presents.  Carol showed her midget blocks.  Rosina is sewing on binding.  Jean is sewing hexagons.

We also enjoyed snacks.  I (Elizabeth) made Stack 'n Whack cookies.
