Cowlumbia Challenge

The June picnic was also the deadline for our Cowlumbia Challenge. The idea was to make a

24" x 36" wall quilt that was a visual twist on the words "cow" and Columbia." It looks like it was a great success to me. Thanks to Zohra for taking these pictures in my absence.

June General Meeting

In June we traditionally have our summer picnic. Once again this year we were lucky enough to meet at the clubhouse at Yacht Cove, which is a beautiful place to enjoy the lake and relax (thanks again Janet).

We enjoyed our usual show and tell, starting with these three from Bev. The first is an english paper pieced hexagon quilt made all from rose fabrics. The second was made with plaids from her stash as well as shirts from the thrift store and is for her grandson. I'm sure he's going to love it.

Linda has been busy with these three.

Sue always seems to bring in at least three every month. How does she do it?

Lynne has finished another one of her paper pieced quilts. It's just SUPER!!

And finally Joan showed off this very modern looking lap quilt. Love, love, love it! Nice job Joan.

June General Meeting

If it's June then it's picnic time for Greater Columbia Quilters. Once again we had our potluck at Yacht Cove (thanks to Shirley). We had a quick meeting with a show and tell and then feasted on a wonderful brunch overlooking scenic Lake Murray. Afterwards we shopped for fabric that members had brought to sell from their stashes. I did get some pictures of the show and tell but was just too busy eating and shopping to get anything more. (Deb, I had great fun shopping at your "store").

Judy had two quilts, one that was paper pieced and had a three dimensional book that opens. I believe that Lynne, our president, helped Judy with some of the paper pieced designs.

Mary brought in a children's quilt.

Elizabeth brought in a finished Quilts of Valor quilt top.

Bonney brought in two quilts.

Jolene finished her jelly roll quilt.

Anita has been busy lately on some comfort quilts.

And Sandra completed her art quilt which included shibori and cyanotype.
