Great Day Bee Gathering

    We had a great crowd at Dorothy's home for Day Bee.  I took a few photos of show and tell.  Bev has been working on her all rose hexagon quilt.  She was sewing on binding by hand.

Sue found a cute panel and made an adorable child's quilt.  She also was sewing on binding by hand.

Jean has discovered an new template and shared this quilt top. The 3 units form a large equilateral triangle and 6 form a large hexagon.  Interesting pattern.

Think about coming to the next Day Bee.  Enjoy the fellowship and get to know guild members better.

June Day Bee Cancelled

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the June day bee has to be cancelled.

April Day Bee

Sorry I'm running behind these days. Too much traveling and not enough catch up time. Thanks to Elizabeth for covering for me. Anyway, last month we met at Dorothy's house. Here are some of the projects our Day Bee Members are working on.

Clara showed off her embroidered blouse.

Judy brought a beautiful needlepoint to work on.

Deb has been paper piecing some hexagons.

Bonnie has started a counted Xstitch pattern.

And of course there's one in every crowd (thank goodness). Lynne proves that Spider Man would look better as a blonde : )

January Day Bee

    Day Bee met this morning with Charlotte. We always enjoy seeing her miniatures.  She said she had not made any recently because she has been busy knitting as she was today.

 Many others worked on their handwork project while we enjoyed refreshments brought by Jane.
Bev was working on a hexie quilt made of all rose fabrics.  She had a beautiful selection.

Jean was finishing the binding on a quilt for a friend.  It was all fall colored batiks.

Charlene was doing hand embroidery.

February's Day Bee will meet at Adele's in town home. Hope to see many of you then as well as next Tuesday for the general meeting.

October Day Bee

     October Day Bee met at Deb's home today, Oct. 8th.  Deb a served wonderful warm fruit crumble along with other tasty snacks.  There was a good crowd of friends. I was hand sewing binding on a doll quilt;  Charlotte was knitting a baby cap.  Jane worked some on hand stitching a Halloween spider web and also  shared a rail fence quilt she is working on.

Lynne loves to paper-piece and has found a free computer program for her to design her own patterns.  Check out "Quilt Assistant"   http://quiltassistant.com/ .  It looks very interesting.

We all enjoyed visiting.  Next month Day Bee will meet at Jean's.

September Day Bee Meeting

         The September Day Bee was hosted by Lynne.  We had a large group who enjoyed visiting and sharing. Guest Judy is making a scrappy version of a quilt from Quilter’s World magazine. 

Deb was making a wool needle case to be donated for the guild auction.

 

  

Lynne showed this cute holiday project of paper-pieced blocks. 

She also showed this princess quilt in progress to get suggestions for the border.

Elizabeth shared a lap quilt in progress to show how she begins trapunto work.  

She also showed a small sample pine burr block.

Special Work at June Day Bee

    Joan planned with Rosina and Bonney for Day Bee to work on the textile fabric book as our project for June's Day Bee.  Bonney hosted and let us spread out all over her downstairs space and work.  Our work was 'continued' support for the textile books for the young women of Zimbabwe and Francie M's work there.  We all got sooooo much accomplished.  We left everything at Bonney's and decided when we meet at her home again for Quilt Mavens on 24 June, we will try and finish cutting and labeling each piece so that we can assemble at least 15 separate books. 

    Tuesday was special.  Thanks to each worker for your support and sticking with me to get these textbooks completed.

   Joan and Bonney prepared a fabulous lunch of quiche and salad along with fresh cantaloupe, pineapple and grapes.  Bonney baked pound cake with fresh strawberries for dessert.

May Day Bee

      May Day Bee was yesterday at Sandra B’s home.  Ladies enjoyed seeing many of her dolls and wall-hangings on display and those who did not could not resist temptation enjoyed snacks brought by Missy.  Last month we decided to appliqué penguin blocks to make children’s comfort quilts.  Jean passed out 2 different blue background squares and the pattern.  She plans to have them at the general meeting for others who are interested in making a block.  Jean showed a completed square.

Elizabeth had 2 completed squares.  We will appliqué the balloons after the blocks are sewn together. 

     There were all types of projects for show and tell.  

 

Bev was almost finished with this pillow cover. 

Missy was working on appliqueing the elephant to her top that will be a baby gift. 

Annette showed this lovely lap quilt made from a pre-cut pack of squares.  It is one of her first with machine quilting. 

Deb was stitching the binding on her table runner. 

 

Dorothy showed the finished quilt for her minister and church.

Charlotte has been busy knitting for grandchildren and also crocheting.  This bag is made from plastic grocery bags.  The flower was made from pink gift bags.

 

Sandra showed off a recent doll with beaded face. 

           

March Day Bee Meeting

      We had a great Day Bee today at Dorothy's home.  There was a good crowd, good conversation, and snacks.  Several ladies worked on hand work as usual.  Bev and Jean enjoyed conversation while working.

Clara also did some stitching.

Jan showed off the result of a mystery quilt.

Dorothy showed this lovely hexagon quilt.

The April Day Bee will be at my home.  Members were asked to bring ideas for doing a block of the month for children's comfort quilts.

Day Bee Meeting

   Today Day Bee was hosted by Charlotte at her home.  It was a special treat to see her craft room and her wonderful miniatures.  She works some in 3 different scales: 1 in = 12 in, 1/2" = 1 ft, and 1/4 in = 1 ft.
Here the tiny butcher block table is 1/4 scale next to one that is 1/12.

 The details on the house scene are amazing.

We loved seeing her her tiny works of art.

We also enjoyed chatting while some did hand work.

Jean showed her latest hexagon quilt.

Dorothy showed the progress she has made on a large applique project.

January's Day Bee Meeting

   We had a great crowd at Jean's this morning where we enjoyed her delicious rhubarb bread.  For show and tell Clara showed a child's quilt and matching bag.

Anita  showed a wall-hanging she made for her dad.  She used 3 blocks from our guild exchange a few years back.  It was a great exchange.
